What is great about this contact is that it all started in a hot tub.
It's not what you think.
I have a fantastic friend who sells lots of wine for a living. She and I - with a small group of girlfriends - had left the men and all of our many children at home and had gone to lunch and a spa. I know - it was SO great!
Since my friend is so knowledgeable about the wine trade, as we were lounging in the bubbles, I asked her some questions.
In passing she said - "You really should contact Vente à la Proprieté - if only because the guy I'm in contact with is SO charming."
I like charming - so Monday I called him and he WAS charming. He had a very fancy aristocratic name and was very fun to talk to - which, sadly isn't always the case in the wine trade.
It turns out that Mr fancy name is associated with a very reputable somelier who liked our wine (of course he liked our wine - what's not to like ?! ) and now for 5 days only our little Oiseau is for sale on the national market.
The moral of the story is: it's all about the hot tub.

J'ai une copine géniale qui gagne sa vie en vendant beaucoup de vin. Avec elle et d'autres copines, on a laissé nos hommes et nos nombreuses enfants à la maison et nous sommes allées au resto et au spa. Je sais - c'etait fantastique!
Donc, comme ma copine a une grande connaissance des marchés du vin, pendant qu'on se prelassées dans les bulles, je lui ai posé des questions.
A un moment donné elle m'a dit - en passant, " Tu devrais appeler Vente à la Proprieté. Mon contact est très charmant. Même si tu ne leur vends pas du vin, tu ne passeras pas un mauvais quart d'heure."
Je n'ai rien contre charmant - et le contact en question était effectivement très charmant. Il a un nom chic à particule et j'ai passé un bon moment à discuté avec lui - ce qui n'est malheureusement pas toujours le cas dans le commerce du vin.
Il se trouve que M Particule est associé avec un grand sommelier qui a bien aimé notre vin ( bien sur qu'il a aimé notre vin - comment on peux ne pas l'aimer ?! ) et maintenant pour 5 jours seulement notre petit Oiseau 2009 est en vente sur le marché national.
Le morale de l'histoire est claire : pour les affaires - rien ne vaut le jacuzzi.
